Nathu La is one of the elevated altitude mountain passes in India which is the highest in Sikkim. It is the border post between India and China. This pass is visited by a maximum number of tourists because of the magnificent beauty it offers. This pass can be closed due to snowfall so you need to take permission from Gangtok before you go to this exciting mountain pass.

Gurudongmar Lake is a well-liked tourist attraction in Sikkim. One of the highest alpine lakes in the world, it is not only recognized for its impressive splendour but is also valued as a holy lake by Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs. It is located close to the China border so foreign tourists cannot visit here. Even Indians need to take special permission from the army. The best part of this lake is that it does not freeze completely in spite of weather being so cold.

Yumthang or known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’ of Lachung in North Sikkim is one of the finest places to visit in winter in India. It is set at an altitude of 8,800 ft above sea level and is covered with snow in winters. During the sunrise and sunset, the entire valley turns into a riot of colours. You can also experience adventure sports at this place.

The people of Sikkim has an exciting nightlife. The capital city Gangtok is famous to enjoy nightlife here. There are a number of pubs, bars, casinos, nightclubs etc to enjoy there. During the winter festival season local drink of the mountain state, Chiang is served which is quite tasty and cheap in price. So spending the night by experiencing there local culture will be actually amazing.

MG Road is the best place to visit in Gangtok. Shopping here is truly thrilling as it is full of amazing goods. The  Chinese Feng Shui items like laughing Buddha, Dragons, New Year Lamp, dresses worn during Tibetan festivals are present there. You can also buy the hand-woven blanket, carpet, wooden and bamboo items.  You should purchase them and don’t forget to bargain.
