About Odisha State Museum

Odisha State Museum is a museum in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. In its original form it changed into installed in 1932 and later moved to the modern constructing in 1960. The museum is divided into eleven sections, viz, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Numismatics, Armoury, Mining & Geology, Natural History, Art & Craft, Contemporary Art, Patta Painting, Anthropology and Palmleaf Manuscripts. The museum is headed with the aid of a superintendent and the executive manage lies within the palms of Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Odisha.

The beginning of this museum can be traced again to 1932, whilst a few historians and professors, like William Jones, Ghanashyam Das, N. C. Banerjee, Harekrushna Mahatab installed a museum in Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. In 1945-46, the Museum turned into shifted to Brahmananda constructing in vintage Bhubaneswar and given the repute of a State Museum with the aid of the Government of Odisha. Later, the Museum become shifted to Patel Hall in 1950 and again to every other building in Unit - I, Bhubaneswar. In 1957, the inspiration of the Museum become laid by means of then President of India, Rajendra Prasad, and ultimately the Museum within the current building began working from 1960.
